Our Approach
We believe milestones are guides, not deadlines. Two babies of the same age may experience the world very differently, so our care is centered around each child's development, abilities, communication, comfort, and individual rhythm, rather than expecting every infant to follow the same path at the same time.
Our caregivers support development naturally through:
- Sensory exploration and age appropriate play
- Music, sound, rhythm, and movement
- Floor play and opportunities for safe physical exploration
- Early communication and language development
- Social and emotional connection
- Consistent routines with flexibility for individual needs
- Responsive feeding, soothing, and caregiving
- Observation of each child's emerging interests and abilities
Development, Not Just Age
While age remains important for safety, licensing, and appropriate care, it doesn't tell us everything about a child.
Within our infant program, environments and activities are designed around developmental abilities. A baby beginning to explore movement needs something different from a confident crawler, and a child beginning to stand and cruise needs something different again.
Instead of asking, 'What should a child this age be doing?' we also ask:
'What is this child doing now, and how can we support what comes next?'
Small by Design
Our initial center will serve approximately 25 infants, allowing A Tune of Their Own to establish the foundation of our program before expanding into additional age groups.
This infant focused launch is the first stage of a much larger vision. As the children in our care grow, our programs will grow with them, ultimately expanding A Tune of Their Own into a 24 hour early childhood center serving children through age five.

The earliest years aren't a race toward the next milestone. They're a period of extraordinary discovery. Our role is to provide the safety, relationships, environment, and opportunities children need to explore that discovery in their own way.
